The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 performance sedan has been teased, ahead of its imminent debut on September 22. As reported, the BMW M3 rival will replace its previous twin-turbo V8 with a new four-cylinder plug-in hybrid setup, adopting the E-Performance moniker from the GT 63 S hybrid . The C63’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 350kW version of AMG’s M139l inline four and a 150kW e-motor mounted at the rear axle, both supported by a robust 400V electrical architecture. The M139l four-banger under the bonnet drives all four wheels through AMG’s proven Speedshift multi-clutch nine-speed automated transmission. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E-Performance swaps the old V-8 for a new plug-in-hybrid setup. The powertrain uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and an electric motor to combine for 671 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque.
