Some racial skills are useful at endgame, because the good skills were nerfed, but it should change soon. You can create a good thief with any race you want, so no worries. Racials can't be used in PvP so that doesn't matter there. Racial skills are special abilities available to each of the playable races. They can be equipped on the five last slots of the skill bar, depending on their type. Mesmer and Guardian are bad fits for the Charr, who like to be a bit more straight-forward. Norn - Warrior, Guardian, and Ranger are good fits. Necromancer is a bad fit, as Norn tend not to care about or think about death very often. Sylvari - Ranger and Elementalist are good fits, as they are the most attuned to nature.
